The elegants will bring fire - GENTLEMAN’S DUB CLUB

They are one of “dark horses” of this year’s Ostróda not without a reason. They were the first band to mix ska with dubstep, adding reggae and dub. This nine-piece unit of folks in suits goes through Europe like a hurricane and each of their singles becomes a hit. Everyone will hum „High Grade” after this first Polish show. All dubby gentlemen on start – Red Stage, 10th August!

They formed in Leeds in early 2006. Their musical concept was born during regular visits to culty Sub Dub parties by Iration Steppas in their town. GDC have burst onto the UK circuit, rocking gigs and festivals up and down the country with their super high energy show. Combining tight grooves and a heavyweight sound, Gentleman’s Dub Club bring the party to crowds of all ages hungry for a dance floor workout, with their gigs often ending in a frenzied mosh pit reminiscent of a mid 80’s ska night. Live effects and mixing make for a crystal clear sound, and the band’s larger than life stage presence makes for a mesmerising experience.
The GDC have supported such acts as Madness, Jerry Dammers (The Specials), Roots Manuva, The Streets, The Wailers, Finlay Quaye, Natty, The Bays, Beardyman, Zion Train and Foreign Beggars Live Band. They have appeared at Glastonbury, Latitude Festival, Outlook Festival (Croatia) and Secret Garden Party, and have played at some of the most prestigious venues in the country, including Koko, The Coronet, The Jazz Café, Rock City Nottingham and Carling Academy Oxford. Recently they played also in India.
Their singles are real pearls of the modern sound combining dubstep and dub with very danceable side of ska and reggae. They got remixed by culty dub producers like Mungos Hi-Fi or Vibronics. The new single „Feels Like” features Tim Hutton, known for his work with the ones like The Prodigy, Dub Pistols and Groove Armada.  They also worked with a rapper P Money. Soon they will release their debut album.

“Prince Harry has got to be the first member of the British monarchy to know how to skank. The fun-loving royal is a fan of Leeds dub reggae band Gentleman’s Dub Club. The prince, who is already a dubstep and rap lover, has been to two of the group’s gigs after learning about them from a pal.”
