If the new album will enjoy such a popularity like "Defto” song (more than 8 million views on Youtube), then Jamal is probably guaranteed a place in the pantheon of the world's biggest music stars. Miodu and his crew will play it out in Ostroda. Energy and perfection - not just on the internet, but also live & direct.
Jamal's story began in 1999 when two musicians from Radom: Thomas "Miód" Mioduszewski and Łukasz Borowiecki started working together, mainly doing rap. In the meantime, Miodu also founded Le Illjah, the band mixing reggae, ska, ragga, punk and even hardcore. After many shows performed with them Miodu returned to the intensive work on Jamal. For some time bands operated in parallel, but due to some disagreements Miodu left Le Illjah. Jamal’s demo met great interest from Pomaton EMI, who offered a recording contract. In 2005, Jamal’s debut album "Rewolucje" was released and all Poland started humming "Policeman". The album included reggae, raggamuffin, hip-hop and even jazz-inspired songs. Jamal played a lot of concerts - both with the band and as Jamal Sound System. In 2008, they returned with "Urban Discotheque" - the album with guest appearances from Grubson, Cheeba, and the beatboxer Zgas. Album was a great success again and local shows in Poland were followed by ones in United States, Germany and the UK. "Pull Up" was featured in "Need for Speed: Shift" soundtrack.
Since then the core of the band are the musicians known previously from the excellent Wroclaw reggae crew Tumbao.
Currently Jamal are recording a new album, to be released in Spring 2013 by EMI Music Poland. A set of unbeatable old hits will be supplemented by a lot of new sounds in Ostróda on 10th August!
