LOVE SEN-C MUSIC (Poland)

lsm.jpgPioneers of the Polish sound system scene will celebrate 25th anniversary in Ostróda! Always acting according to the principle of "have fun and think!", with many significant artists making their first steps on their sound. Think of Junior Stress himself, already a second generation of LSM. Love, Sensi and Music!

Their name (abbreviated as LSM) refers to both the residential district of Lublin  (Lublin Housing Cooperative) and the ideology of Rasta: Love, Sensi and Music. It all started in 1989 when Silverdread, DJ OK and Kingstress decides to start a reggae sound system. They were the first who transfered local nyabinghi tradition of Słoma to the club reality. Silverdread recalls: "Being a fresh student of English philology at Catholic University of Lublin (Spring 1987), I was invited to cooperate in the painting / theater happening at the University event. When it finished people started dancing and I played classic afrobeat - Fela, King Sunny Ade, Thomas Mapfumo and of course reggae . Since then I started organizing "Celtic nights" at the university bar, requiring a consent from the priest rector each time. At the same time I joined already large Lublin rural-reggae crew. I went for a year to the UK and returned with a lot of CDs, a good amplifier, a turntable and a double tape deck.  The events started on a regular basis and at one of them we decided to start a sound system. In the early 90’s I visited Maken in Zgorzelec for his Marleyki event and the first sound systems linked through the country from Odra river to Bug river. "
Since 1991 LSM continuously organize annual "Marleyki" in Lublin. They took part 3 times in nationwide clashes (2002, 2005, 2006) , winning each time. You could hear them on the air - LSM FM was the first pirate reggae radio in Poland. They hosted shows "Roots on the air" and "Top- Sen- C Music" at Radio Puls FM, Radio Centrum, Radio Lublin, Radio Top FM. Long before the sound systems conquered mass imagination, they fought five peaceful battles against Joint Venture Sound System, called "Interbass".
Tam Tam Records – record distribution run by Silverdread was crucial for the growth of interest in Poland for styles like reggae, dancehall, jungle, d'n'b, Asian club or 2-Step. They imported not only records but also great artists like Michael Rose, Fun-Da-Mental or UK Apachi.
On the solid foundation of reggae LSM managed to built a multistyle crossover, incorporating hip-hop into their sets from the very beginning. Former members Silverdread, DJ OK and Kingstress were later joined by a son of the latter, widely known in Poland Junior Stress and Rasta Sepomatik.
