This fresh band is a prime example of reggae music crossing the borders and one of the strongest cultural manifestations of countless Polish community in Britain. Their first Polish show will be a presentation of the debut album, recorded at Tuff Gong in Kingston, mixed by Harry J’s Sam Clayton and including top Jamaican singers and players. No things are impossible.
The band was born in Southampton in summer 2011 in minds of Tomasz Rozek, a Polish guitarist and a local bass player Versell Gordon, joined by two more emigrants from Poland - Bartosz Konieczny & Maciej Markiewicz. Soon they found British Jamaican Will White, who joined as a keyboard player and in 2013 brought his son Resoteric to take over vocal duties. Previously trying his skills in hip-hop, this young warrior’s flow and bars fitted perfectly to the chord structures and melodic basslines. Lyrical messages complimented the distinctive style of reggae riddims the band were developing and the songs came together. 2014 saw them on their trip to Kingston with a strong plan to record their ideas at Marley’s Tuff Gong Studio. With Roland McDermott and Michael (Boxy) Howell at the controls, they layed down twelve songs. Jamaica’s Treasure Beach was also a place for their first ever live show. Before the band returned to Jamaica beginning of 2015 to put some finishing touches to the debut album, the world could see the first outcome – storming „Praises to Jah” video. They utilized the skills of the local players: Kirk Bennett on drums (Beres Hammond, Busy Signal, Toots Hibbert etc.), Denver Smith on percussion (Gentleman’s MTV Unplugged) and the legendary saxophonist Dean Fraser. Resoteric was joined at the mike by the top vocal guests: Tarrus Riley, Iba Mahr and the beautiful Nikki Burt of the Penthouse crew, who provided backing vocals for ones like Damian Marley, Mikey Spice or Buju Banton.
Meeting up at Tuff Gong with top Polish reggae artist Bednarek and sharing the same vibe, Resoteric appears as Bednarek’s guest on his „Oddycham…” album as well.
The album is being mixed now by Sam Clayton of Harry J Studios and the results can be heard at Ostróda Reggae Festival.
In the meantime another video, „Voice of Revolution (Ostroda mix)” featuring Humble and Iba Mahr, promotes the festival and combine the images of the Jamaican sessions and Ostróda’s vibes. Keep the fyah burnin, you have been warned!
