This year we will start the festival gently and naturally. The program was extended in a very last minute for the authors of highly acclaimed last year album "Full Steam Ahead" - Natural Mystic Akustycznie. In order to try a different view at reggae, this Sosnowiec’s band changed instruments to acoustic: accoustic bass and guitars, accordion, trumpet. The group will be the first act to play our Red Stage, warming you right before Young Polish Reggae Bands Contest on Thursday 9 August at 15.00. http://www.naturalmystic.pl/ Be first to comment this article |

"If you have to point out a Polish artist the most inspired by Bob Marley, the choice is very easy" - this is how Free Colours magazine described Dawid Portasz, the singer for Jafia Namuel. It is hard to disagree. In February 2012 they released "One Love Train" album. The material was recorded during a concert in the Polish National Radio in May 2011 in connection with the 30th anniversary of Bob Marley’s death. The set consists mainly of a beautifully played and sung songs from the king of reggae. Earlier in 2008 Dawid Portasz as the first Pole recorded an album in Jamaica. The Rastasize session took place at Tuff Gong Studio and included some musicians who played with Bob Marley. Meanwhile, Dawid's mothership Jafia Namuel band has existed since 1994 and from the very beginning has been hailed the most "Jamaican" band in Poland. Isn’t it a perfect choice for our Red Stage for the Jamaica’s 50th anniversary on 11 August? Comments (1) |

If anyone still doubts the sense of participation in competitions for young bands, you probably change your mind checking the latest, 19th issue of the reggae magazine "Free Colours". You can notice a freebie CD with some pieces from our last year's winners, Make Progress. The songs were recorded in London. This could happen only thanks to Soundflower Studios (free recording session), Positive Music Promotion (flights to London) and the editors of "Free Colours" (CD). You can hear there some featurings from the members of the band who performed Ostróda at the festival last year - The Wisdom Band. Same valuable prizes are waiting for the winners of this year's competition. It will take place at the Red Stage on August 9. Be first to comment this article |
